Ganglion A knot or cluster of nerve cells which lies outside the brain or central nervous system.
Ganglionic cyst A ganglion cyst is a bump or mass that forms under the skin (not related to Ganglion). Most commonly they are painless and can appear on the wrist (usually the back side) but they can also develop around other joints. They form when tissues surrounding certain joints become inflamed and swell up with lubricating fluid. They may be tender and restrict movement.
Glycogen The storage form of glucose found in the liver and muscles. Glycogen plays a role in controlling blood sugar levels between meals.
Golfer's elbow See also medial epicondylitis. A form of tendonitis similar to tennis elbow, but affecting different muscles. (Tendonitis is caused by overuse of muscles and tendons leading to inflammation). The pain may be experienced at the elbow joint on the inside of the arm and shooting pains may occur when gripping an object. The most commonly affected muscle is called the flexor carpi ulnaris, which bends the wrist forward and to the side of the 5th finger. This muscle is used a lot when holding a golf club and when typing on a keyboard.
