Lactic acid It is the byproduct of glucose and glycogen metabolism produced in the muscles during heavy physical exertion. It causes pain and soreness.
Lateral Epicondylitis Commonly known as "Tennis Elbow" occurs when muscles and tendons in the elbow area are irritated, torn or damaged (the lateral epicondyle is the bony part that is on the outside of the elbow joint). The pain may be on the outside of the elbow or forearm and can be aggravated by bending the wrist back, turning the palm up, or by forceful gripping or squeezing. Read more about how Desk Doctor software detects, prevents and rehabilitates this and other muscle and joint problems.
Laxity A medical term for "loose" and generally refers to ligaments and muscles. Ligaments hold a bone to another bone. When they are lax, the bones of a joint are not properly supported and are more likely to suffer an injury. Muscles also play a role to support the joint and guide the bones to move properly in relation to one another. Muscle laxity is another common reason for joint injury. Regular exercise is highly beneficial to maintaining proper joint stability. See Exercise for more.
Ligament A type of connective tissue which connects bone to bone. Ligaments are made of collagen and are flexible yet resilient to stretch.
